Further Update – Storm Ciara: Public Notice from National Parks & Wildlife Service (NPWS) of the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht

The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) advises the public – for personal safety reasons – to refrain from visiting Connemara National Park or Wild Nephin Ballycroy National Park while Met Éireann’s wind warning is in place. This is owing to the woodland nature of the sites.

The NPWS also advises the public not to visit National Parks, National Monuments or Nature Reserves in the areas covered by the weather warnings whilst the warnings are in place and asks for their ongoing cooperation on this matter.

Please note, the following locations are closed due to the wind warning:

  • Connemara National Park
  • Wild Nephin Ballycroy National Park
  • Derryclare Nature Reserve
  • Old Head Nature Reserve
  • Knochma Wood, near Tuam, Co. Galway
  • Laughil Wood, near Pontoon, Co. Mayo
  • Killarney House and Gardens, Co. Kerry
  • Muckross House, Co. Kerry

A status orange wind warning has been issued by Met Éireann for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare and Kerry – valid from 6am until 8pm on Monday 10 February.

Further updates will be provided as the weather forecast becomes clearer and/or as Met Éireann weather advisory notices are updated – see Met Eireann for weather warning and updates.
