Language Plan for Ennis, Co. Clare launched today by Minister Chambers during his visit

The Minister of State for the Gaeltacht and Sport, Jack Chambers TD will visit Ennis in Co. Clare today - Friday, 24 September 2021.

While the Minister of State is in Ennis, Co. Clare, he will officially launch the town's language plan under the language planning process. An Clár as Gaeilge Teo prepared the plan and the group will be responsible for implementing the plan with continuous assistance from Foras na Gaeilge. A yearly budget up to €80,000 will be made available over a seven-year period to assist them to implement the plan for the Ennis Irish Language Network. He will also visit Gaelscoil Mhíchíl Cíosóg and Gaelcholáiste an Chláir to meet with staff members and pupils from both schools.

Minister of State Chambers said:

"It gives me great pleasure to launch the Ennis Language Plan here in Ennis today. Today's event is a significant one in relation to promoting the Irish language in the town. A lot of work has been undertaken and is still underway locally to boost the Irish language in Ennis and An Clár as Gaeilge Teo and everyone else involved in compiling the language plan for Ennis town are to be commended. As a result of the work carried out by them and by interested parties like Gaelscoil Uí Chíosóig and Gaelcholáiste an Chláir - not to mention other organisations and bodies over the years, the Irish language has a strong foundation as a language that is thriving and alive in the town. The implementation of the language plan that I am launching today will only add to that great work under the language planning process."
