The Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport Patrick O’Donovan TD has expressed his thanks to Maura McGrath, who is stepping down from the role of Chairperson of the Board of the National Concert Hall.
Minister O’Donovan said:
I want to thank Maura McGrath for her leadership of the National Concert Hall Board since 2016, and for her earlier service as a Board member. She guided the NCH through a period of major change, including the challenges of the pandemic and the successful transfer of the National Symphony Orchestra and Choirs from RTÉ.
I also want to acknowledge her work in preparing the NCH for significant investment in its campus.
A public competition, to be managed by the Public Appointments Service – PublicJobs – will shortly commence to find a new Chairperson and to fill a number of vacancies for ordinary members of the Board.
Minister O’Donovan continued:
A public competition through PublicJobs will shortly begin to appoint a new Chairperson and additional Board members. I expect to make these appointments early in 2026 and will designate an interim Chairperson in the meantime.
The Board of the National Concert Hall is established under the National Cultural Institutions (National Concert Hall) Act 2015. The Chairperson and Board members do not receive a salary or fee.
Minister O’Donovan concluded:
Maura McGrath now brings her experience to her role as Chairperson of the Arts Council, and I look forward to seeing that expertise reflected in its ongoing governance review.
