Principal Officer, Major Events Unit

Responsibility for developing a Major International Sports Events policy and strategy for hosting such events. Managing and coordinating State support and input into Major International Sports Event bidding and hosting (including the hosting of the Ryder Cup 2027 in Adare and the bid to host UEFA European Championships with the UK in 2028) and to protect and promote the State’s interests as part of this process.
