Gerald Fleming

A graduate from UC Dublin (Experimental Physics), Gerald Fleming worked for Met Éireann (the Irish meteorological service) for 37 years as a weather forecaster and weather broadcaster. He led the television weather team for Irish public service broadcaster RTÉ and subsequently spent 9 years as Head of Forecasting for Met Éireann. Active in the World Meteorological Organisation he was Chair of the Programme on Public Weather Services for 15 years. He now works as a meteorological consultant on a variety of WMO and World Bank development projects in South Asia and in Africa. He is involved also with the European Meteorological Society and was awarded the EMS Silver Medal, their highest honour, in 2019.
