Statement by Minister Kehoe following the death of the late Colonel Billy Ringrose

The Minister with Responsibility for Defence, Mr Paul Kehoe TD, has expressed his great sadness and regret following the death of the late Colonel Billy Ringrose.

Minister Kehoe noted the immense contribution of Colonel Ringrose to the Defence Forces and equestrian sport.

“Colonel Ringrose was an exemplary ambassador for Ireland and especially for the Defence Forces.

“His individual success in show-jumping alongside his membership of the Aga Khan team and his leadership role as Chef d’Equipe and of the Equitation School were remarkable.

”Colonel Ringrose’s legacy is very evident in McKee Barracks and the equitation School of the Defence Forces and across the wider equestrian community.

”On behalf of the Government and the Defence Forces, I wish to express my deepest condolences to Colonel Ringrose’s family.”
