This NRA 2017 updates the previous NRA 2012, which was accepted by the European Commission as meeting the requirements of the Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM).

Hazard analysis and risk assessment are accepted internationally as essential steps in the process of identifying the challenges that may have to be addressed by society, particularly in the context of emergency management.
