ICT (Information and Communications Technology) Policy Unit

The ICT (Information and Communications Technology) Policy Unit promotes the integration of ICT in teaching and learning in first and second level schools.


What we do

  • policy research, analysis and advice addressing the integration of ICT into teaching and learning
  • co-ordination of the ICT in Schools Programme, in conjunction with the Department’s front line support services for schools and key agencies
  • funding a range of ICT continuous professional development courses for teachers www.teachercpd.ie, accompanied by www.scoilnet.ie, the national portal for curriculum-relevant digital content for use in teaching and learning (services delivered by the Professional *development Service for Teachers (PDST))
  • funding of the schools broadband access service (services delivered by the PDST).
