Minister for Education and Youth, Hildegarde Naughton, will visit schools in Galway today (Monday), where she will pay tribute to the central role schools play in their local communities.

During a visit to Scoil Chuimsitheach Chiaráin, the Minister will officially open the school’s new extension and meet with members of the wider school community.

The Minister thanked everyone involved in bringing the project to completion for their dedication, expertise and hard work.

Speaking in advance of the visit, she said:

“I would like to wish the entire school community many happy and successful years of teaching and learning in this wonderful new extension.”

The Minister will also visit Scoil Mhic Dara, where she will officially open a new extension and unveil a commemorative plaque to mark the occasion.

Commenting ahead of the visit, the Minister said:

“We are investing not only in a new building, but in the future of the students who will walk through these doors in the years ahead. I hope this new extension will inspire generations of pupils to excel in the classroom, in sport, in the arts and in every aspect of school life.

“Schools play a central role in every community. They are places of learning, and places where friendship and personal development can grow. With these new facilities, students will have greater opportunities to develop their talents and abilities in a modern and supportive environment.”

The Minister will also visit Scoil Speisialta Tigh Nan Dooley, where she will meet with students and staff.
