The deadline for receipt of applications is Friday, 27 February at midnight.
The STEM Bursary was announced in Budget 2025 to help support you financially while you train to become a teacher.
The bursary is worth €2,000 per year. It is available to students registered in an eligible Initial Teacher Education (ITE) programme who are.
- starting the first of their final two years in the 2025/26 academic year can apply.
- In future years, students in either of the final two years will be able to apply.
- If you are repeating a year, you are not eligible for the bursary.
- The aim of the STEM Bursary is to encourage more students to train as teachers in STEM subjects, so that post-primary schools can recruit more qualified teachers.
To qualify, you must be on course to teach at least one of the following subjects:
- Maths
- Applied Maths
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Biology
- Engineering
- Computer Science
In short, the scheme supports you during your studies while helping schools meet future demand for STEM teachers.
