Local Creative Youth Partnership (LCYP)

Local Creative Youth Partnerships (LCYPs) work with children and young people in out-of-school settings, providing creative opportunities that complement those in formal education. LCYPs focus particularly on engaging marginalised and disadvantaged groups, ensuring that young people from all backgrounds can discover and explore their creativity through participation in diverse cultural and artistic activities.

The initiative was first piloted in 2019 in three Education and Training Boards: Kerry, Laois/Offaly and Limerick/Clare. By 2022, three more had been established: Cork, Galway/Roscommon and Mayo/Sligo/Leitrim. In 2023, another LCYP was set up in Cavan/Monaghan, and in 2025, Tipperary joined the list, bringing the total number to eight.
