What it is
The School Transport Appeals Board is an independent body that examines and determines appeals against the school transport application process.
Decisions made by the department under the terms of the school transport schemes and/or grant aid under the terms of the school transport schemes may be appealed.
The appeals board deals with requests about:
- school transport services
- grant aid under the terms of the School Transport Schemes
The School Transport Appeals Board meetings take place each month.
Who can make an appeal
The following people can make an appeal:
- parents of pupils
- pupils aged 18 and over
How to appeal
Submit a completed Appeals Form online via the following link School Transport Appeals Board
If you are unable to submit an online appeal, submit a competed Appeals Form - STA1 to the School Transport Appeals Board, c/o Department of Education, Portlaoise Road, Tullamore, Co Offaly, R35 Y2N5.
The department strongly recommends that all information and documentation pertaining to an appeal be submitted electronically via the secure website www.schooltransportappeals.ie or send as a hard copy by registered post. In the event that the appellant or his/her representatives elect to submit information or documentation by any other method, this is done so entirely at the senders own risk and no responsibility shall attach to the department or the School Transport Appeals Board, for receipt, security, integrity or safety of such items
Appeals must be submitted within 28 calendar days from the date a decision is notified. There is no charge for making an appeal.
