Competitiveness Challenge 2018

Ireland’s Competitiveness Challenge 2018 identifies a range of recommendations that address both immediate competitiveness issues, and more medium-term challenges, aimed at enhancing Ireland’s competitiveness and productivity performance.

Ireland is one of the fastest growing economies in the world and our overall competitiveness performance remains positive. However, against the backdrop of a less favourable international economic climate, a closer look at the statistics reveals fragilities in the economy. The Council’s 2018 report focuses on three overarching themes: ensuring the sustainability of the economic model; maintaining cost competitiveness; and, narrowing the productivity gap between the “best and the rest”.
