Assigned responsibility at Assistant Secretary level for policy and legislation in relation to quality employment, positive workplace relations, well-functioning dispute resolution mechanisms, a safe working environment and to assist Ireland’s enterprise base to access talent from overseas, through responsive and robust economic migration policy and an effective permits system. In particular, the Workplace Regulation and Economic Migration Division works to ensure:
- delivery of a robust suite of employment rights policies, underpinned by statute, including redundancy and insolvency issues
- that our policy, legislative and institutional framework, and appropriate stakeholder engagement, promotes harmonious industrial and workplace relations and any disputes or breaches are handled efficiently and effectively by the relevant Bodies
- a skills based economic migration policy is implemented and the employment permit system is well-managed, supporting the needs of our economy and society
- our policy and legislative framework promotes a safe working environment, providing protection for all employees and a level playing field for employers, and a clear regulatory framework in relation to chemicals
- Ireland’s values and interests are represented internationally, at the EU, particularly EPSCO and the Council of Europe, the G20 and the ILO.
