Government approves the nomination of Ambassadors

On the recommendation of the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Micheál Martin, the government today approved 8 Ambassador nominations. These appointments will take place during 2024, subject to agreement by the receiving States.

Commenting on the nominations, the Tánaiste said:

“I am delighted to welcome these Ambassador nominations.

"I know that those nominated as Ambassadors will represent Ireland with great distinction as they work to support Irish citizens and to advance Ireland’s interests and values around the world.

"I am also happy that today’s announcement means that 55% of our diplomatic missions will be led by women. I am determined that we will make real progress on gender equality at home and abroad.”
