Statement by Minister McEntee on the outcome of Parliamentary Elections in Hungary

I congratulate the Hungarian people on voting in such numbers today – and Péter Magyar and his Tisza colleagues on their victory.

As we mark the 50th anniversary of our nations’ diplomatic ties, and look ahead to Ireland’s EU Presidency, we are keen to reinforce our bilateral ties and to see Hungary renew its place within the EU.

In the weeks ahead, I will meet with my new Hungarian counterpart to discuss how we can do just that.
