At this critical juncture for Ukraine, after almost 4 years of brutal Russian aggression, I want to emphasise Ireland’s unequivocal support and solidarity.
Like so many international partners, we want to see a just and lasting peace that guarantees Ukraine’s independence and sovereignty.
It is crucial that there should be nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine.
This is not just vital for Ukraine - it is also vital for the European Union and all its Member States, including Ireland. I underlined this point strongly at the Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels this week.
Today and over the weekend, we remain in close contact with our European partners, including through the Taoiseach’s participation at the G20 Summit in South Africa.
We will remain steadfast in our support for a just and lasting peace for the people of Ukraine throughout the period ahead.
