Biography

Dr. Brian MacNamee

Dr. Brian Mac Namee is associate professor in the School of Computer Science at UCD, co-Director of the Insight Research Ireland Centre for Data Analytics and co-Director of the Research Ireland Centre for Research Training in Machine Learning,

Brian’s research interests are in machine learning, and in particular novelty detection, human-in-the-loop machine learning, and machine learning applications. He co-authored “Fundamentals of Machine Learning for Predictive Data Analytics: Algorithms, Worked Examples and Case Studies” published in 2015 and 2020 (2nd ed) with MIT Press.

Brian received a PhD in Computer Science from Trinity College Dublin in 2004. After working in industry, he joined DIT where he co-founded the Applied Intelligence Researcher Centre. In 2013 he was awarded the DIT Fíosraigh Research Excellence Award. Brian is also Director of Training at Krisolis Ltd.
