Dr. Jonathan Briody

Dr. Jonathan Briody is a health economist at the School of Population Health, RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences, where he is the lead for Health and Economic Impact Modelling for the Centre for Chronic Disease and Population Health Research (Converge). He is also a visiting scientist with the national public health agency of the United States, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Since beginning his first research role at the Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (TILDA), Dr. Briody's interest has been in modelling the cost-effectiveness of intervention in nationally influential chronic disease. He has conducted economic evaluations of various screening and prevention interventions for chronic diseases, such as colorectal cancer and diabetes, and has experience in the health economics of cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer's disease and dementia.

He has published several studies in peer-reviewed journals, editor-invited scientific articles for a national clinical magazine, research briefs and open-source health economic models that decision-makers can freely use to model the cost-effectiveness of care. He has presented his work at national and international conferences and organised summits and plenaries. His goal is to empower next-generation researchers with tools for breakthroughs in health economics through shared knowledge and collaborative efforts.

Dr Briody has been recognised by a European Fellowship at The Health Economic Research Center (CINCH) in Germany, was nominated for the Vice Chancellor's Award as an RCSI Rising Star, made the Hospital Professional Top 100 list of Ireland's top achievers across disciplines and received the UCD Geary Institute for Public Policy research award.
