Lora Ruth Wogu is a healthcare professional in addition to her work as a patient advocate. Lora Ruth established Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Ireland, a national patient and parent support and advocacy organisation for raising awareness and advancement of patients’ quality of life with Sickle Cell disease and Thalassaemia disease in Ireland.
Lora Ruth has advocated and represented patients on various levels from community support, representation at national and international level, political agencies to ensure the patient needs are recognised.
Lora Ruth has been a patient advocate and representative on the European Medicine’s Agency Scientific board since 2016, St James Hospital Patient Representative Group since 2016, the National Screening Service Ireland PPP since 2019. Lora is also Scoil Sinead Patronage board executive, for Autism inclusion in both primary and secondary schools and a member of the Special needs parents’ association since 2013.
