Announcement of the appointment of Claire Hogan to the Health and Social Care Professionals Council (CORU)

On the Nomination of the Radiographers Registration Board, the Minister for Health, Mr Stephen Donnelly TD, has appointed the following person as a member of the Health and Social Care Professionals Council (CORU) with effect from 18 December 2020 to 23 January 2022:

Ms Claire Hogan

Originally from Murroe, Co. Limerick, Claire now lives and works in Cork city. She qualified in 1995 from University College Dublin with a Bachelor’s Degree in Radiography. During her university training, she founded the Radiography Society and was successfully elected as the Equality Officer in the Students Union.

For the first 5 years of Claire’s career, she worked in the Mater and Beaumont hospitals before taking up her role in Cork University Hospital (CUH). In this role, Claire was involved in the education of student radiographers on placement in CUH, supervising, encouraging and teaching them in the practice of radiography. In addition, she has developed specialist skills in Nuclear Medicine, Cath Lab, Neuro-vascular and General Vascular Laboratories.

Claire has a great appreciation for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in Radiography and was integral to the establishment of the current CPD committee in CUH of which she was deputy chairperson. The committee organised a broad spectrum of CPD events on a regular basis within the department from radiographers, nurses, radiologists and other Consultants.

In 2018 Claire moved to her current role with Global Diagnostics, where as well as working in their VHI Clinics, is also the Lead DXA Radiographer covering the public list for the southern region.

Claire has been a member of the Radiographers Registration Board in CORU for 3 years now.
