Appointment to the Health and Social Care Professionals Council (CORU) - 21 October 2021

On the nomination of the Podiatrists Registration Board, the Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly TD, has reappointed the following person as a member of the Health and Social Care Professionals Council with effect from 16 October 2021 until 15 October 2024:

Dr Julia Shaw

Dr Shaw has 39 years’ NHS Podiatry experience in management, clinical and research areas within Podiatry. She completed a PhD in 2008 at Ulster University in Belfast and has presented and published her work internationally. Julia has represented Northern Ireland in a variety of national roles including appointment as an Executive Member of the Foot in Diabetes UK and as a Diabetes UK Clinical Champion.

Until retirement in 2019, as Assistant Podiatry Manager in the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, Julia contributed to the corporate governance framework and ensured a team of 36 Podiatrists provided high quality, safe and effective patient care complying with public sector values, codes of conduct, and accountability. She is currently a Fitness to Practise Panel Member and a Registration Assessor for the Health and Care Professions Council UK (HCPC) and a Fellow of the Royal College of Podiatry UK.
