Following a Public Appointments Service (PAS) campaign, the Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly TD, has appointed the following as members of the following Registration Boards:
Occupational Therapists Registration Board
Mr Hassan Dugow from 02.07.2021 – 30.06.2025
Hassan Dugow is an Occupational Therapist Manager with the HSE Midlands Louth Meath Community Healthcare area. He has over 15 years’ experience of working with the HSE across a number of settings, including stroke rehabilitation, primary care and older persons services. Hassan has Masters Degrees in Health Service Management (MSc HSM) and in Occupational Therapy (MSc OT) from Trinity College Dublin. He has interest in evidence- based practice and has published / presented research papers at local and international conferences. Hassan is a member of AOTI.
Ms Catriona Sweeney from 02.07.2021 to 30.06.2025
Catriona Sweeney is an award-winning Occupational Therapist with vast clinical experience and a wide range of transferable skills. A UCC graduate, Catriona initially worked in Adult Primary Care Services and then in children services. She also has significant experience working in America in inpatient rehabilitation. On returning to Ireland, Catriona completed a MSc in Older Adult Rehabilitation and has worked as a Senior Occupational Therapist in Mental Health Services, Older Adult Rehabilitation and manages her own private practice. Catriona is particularly highly skilled in working with amputees, as she has worked for over ten years in a specialist amputee rehabilitation clinic.
Radiographers Registration Board
Dr Michelle Leech from 02.07.2021 to 23.01.2022
Michelle Leech is Associate Professor at the Discipline of Radiation Therapy, School of Medicine, Trinity College Dublin. Dr Leech directs the BSc. Radiation Therapy at Trinity College. Within the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO) she is Chair of Blended Learning and sits on both the Scientific and Educational Councils. She is Editor-in Chief of the ESTRO Journal Technical Innovations and Patient Support in Radiation Oncology. Dr Leech also contributes to global activities of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), particularly in the education of radiation therapists. In 2020, Dr Leech was awarded the Emmanuel van der Schueren award in recognition of excellent scientific work, enormous contribution within ESTRO to the field of education and promotion of radiation oncology as a discipline.
Psychologists Registration Board
Mr Stephen Kealy from 21.07.2021 to 20.07.2024
Stephen Kealy is a Registered Psychologist and Fellow of the Psychological Society of Ireland, Associate Fellow and Chartered Psychologist of the British Psychological Society and Fellow of the International Association for the Scientific Study of Intellectual Disabilities, who has worked in the Irish Health System and is currently a lay member of a number of Regulatory Boards Committees.
Social Care Workers Registration Board
Ms Helena Doody from 02.07.2021 to 30.06.2025
Helena Doody is a social care worker who has over 30 years’ experience in the Social Care sector working with marginalised groups and individuals. Throughout her career Helena has worked as a social care worker, social care leader and coordinator of services. She has a passionate interest in advocacy, equality, and issues regarding access to higher education which is the topic of her current Doctoral research. Her qualifications include BA (Ord) in Applied Social Studies in Social Care, BA (Hons) in Applied Social Studies in Social Care, a H.Dip in Further Education, a MA in Adult and Community Education. Helena currently works as a Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of Humanities in TU Dublin, Tallaght Campus. Drawing from her expertise and knowledge of quality enhancement Helena is actively involved in the development of professional services and governance through her involvement as a member of the Board of Directors of both Sunbeam House Services Ltd., and the Board of Directors of Social Care Ireland.
Ms Noelle Reilly from 02.07.2021 to 30.06.2025
As a highly motivated social care professional who is committed to ensuring that the highest standards are embedded in the social care sector, Noelle Reilly brings a passion and commitment to the implementation of professional regulation and statutory registration. Noelle is the social care professional practice coordinator in IT Carlow and sits on the Education Advisory Group of Social Care Ireland and is an active member of the Irish Association of Social Care Educators. In her previous role as Training and Compliance Officer in a mainstream residential service Noelle developed key understandings of the importance of regulation, strategy development, risk management and change management to both support practice and protect service users and care teams. This knowledge has informed her approach towards the implementation of the placement process in IT Carlow to ensure alignment with the criteria for education and training programs for social care workers as published by CORU. Noelle brings this knowledge, insight and practical experience to the SCW registration board.
