Appointments to the Board of the Dublin Dental Hospital:

The Minister for Health Jennifer Carroll MacNeill TD has appointed/reappointed the following persons as members to the Board of the Dublin Dental Hospital.
Helen Bunbury
Helen is an internationally experienced executive, non-executive director and independent consultant, with 30+ years working in industry leading organisations in the Financial Services, Legal, Public Services and NGO sectors across the UK, Europe, Middle East, Asia, Americas and Ireland.
Helen is a graduate of University College Dublin and holds additional professional qualifications from the Institute of Insurers, Harvard Business School and the Institute of Directors. Key areas of expertise include strategic review, business transformation, change management, risk, governance, leadership and the development of operational models.
Ms Bunbury is appointed by the Minister for Health following a publicjobs campaign with effect from 17 February 2026 until 16 February 2030.
Dr Kevin Byrne
Dr Kevin Byrne is a Senior Research Scientist in the UCD School of Medicine. Based in UCD’s Conway Institute, Dr Byrne researches and lectures in genomics. Originally training in theoretical physics at Trinity College Dublin, he has a 25-year track record of international impact with research that combines biological sciences, mathematics and computational science, and he is an award-winning instructor in genome analysis. Experienced in sectoral governance, he has served on the council of a national research funding agency, on the audit and risk committee of TU Dublin, and on the government working group on research infrastructure. He holds a Professional Certificate in Governance from the IPA. He has also served in community leadership roles in Dublin’s historic core and been an active member of the boards of various civic and cultural organisations.

Patrick Downes
Patrick Downes is Managing Partner of Lionheart, a corporate governance advisory practice. He leads governance reviews, audit and risk oversight, and regulatory compliance diagnostics for complex institutions across the corporate, public, and not-for-profit sectors and has authored several books in the field.
With over 30 years' senior experience, Patrick brings substantial operational and governance credentials. He served as Executive Director at Bord na Móna plc, and previously held full P&L responsibility as CEO of the Baxi Group's Irish operations and held senior European roles within Williams Holdings plc.
He currently chairs the Board of the Order of Malta, serves on the Board of St Vincent's Hospital, Fairview, chairs the Governance Committee at the Royal Dublin Society, and is a member of the HSE-CCNME Audit and Risk Committee. He holds an MBA and postgraduate qualifications from University College Cork, Harvard Business School, University College Dublin, and Boston College under the auspices of the US State Department, he combines academic grounding with solid boardroom experience. A Fellow of both the Royal Society and the Chartered Institute of Marketing, he holds further professional memberships across governance and consulting disciplines.

Caoimhe Cannon
Caoimhe is a qualified pharmacist with more than thirty years of experience owning and managing a group of retail community pharmacies.She holds an MSc in Business (Leadership and Management Practice), along with Postgraduate Diplomas in Corporate Governance, Strategy, Development and Innovation and Artificial Intelligence and Business Analytics, all from the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School.Caoimhe sits on the Board of Cliona’s Foundation, a national charity which provides financial assistance to families of seriously sick children.
Ms Cannon is appointed by the Minister for Health following a publicjobs campaign with effect from 17 February 2026 until 16 February 2030.
