The Minister for Health Jennifer Carroll MacNeill TD has appointed/reappointed the following persons as members of the following registration boards with effect from 25th July 2025 until 20th July 2029.
Physiotherapists Registration Board
Adam McDermott
Adam McDermott qualified with a BSc Physiotherapy from Trinity College Dublin in 2013 and commenced his clinical career as a physiotherapist in St James’s Hospital Dublin. He obtained an MSc in Exercise Physiology and then received his PhD Clinical Exercise Physiology in 2018. Adam then worked as a senior physiotherapist in neurology and general medical rehabilitation in St. James’s Hospital Dublin before moving to take up his current role of senior physiotherapist in the emergency department in St. Vincent’s University Hospital, Dublin.
Adam McDermott is appointed to the Physiotherapists Registration Board following election by registrants of the designated profession.
Róna McLaughlin
Róna McLaughlin is a chartered physiotherapist with over thirty years of clinical, educational and managerial experience in Ireland and Australia. She holds a BSc. in Physiotherapy (UUJ), a MSc. in Medical Science (NUIG) and a Diploma in Orthopaedic Medicine (NUIG). She is currently the physiotherapy manager in Donegal Primary Care (HSE), where she leads out on service delivery, innovation and development. Róna is committed to advancing excellence in physiotherapy care and her work is supported by extensive training in clinical practice, leadership and governance.
Róna McLaughlin is re-appointed to the Physiotherapists Registration Board following election by registrants of the designated profession.
Occupational Therapists Registration Board
Ms Lisa McKeon
Ms Lisa McKeon is a senior occupational therapist with over 15 years’ experience across Ireland, the UK and Australia. She specialises in the care of the older person and neurorehabilitation with a strong focus on patient-centred care. Lisa has led service development initiatives, mentored clinicians, and contributed to professional education. She is committed to ethical, evidence-based practice and advancing high standards in occupational therapy.
Ms Lisa McKeon is appointed to the Occupational Therapists Registration Board following election by registrants of the designated profession.
Dr Tadhg Stapleton
Dr Tadhg Stapleton is an associate professor in Occupational Therapy at Trinity College Dublin. He has worked as an academic for over 20 years, teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level alongside active involvement in the execution of clinical based research. Prior to his academic appointment he worked as an occupational therapist in adult neurological rehabilitation and older adult rehabilitation in both hospital and community settings.
Dr Tadhg Stapleton is appointed to the Occupational Therapists Registration Board following election by registrants of the designated profession.
Ms Carol O’Donnell
Ms Carol O'Donnell qualified as a mature student with a BSc. in Occupational Therapy in 1999 from TCD. She completed a master’s in health services management in 2009. Carol has been employed as an occupational therapist and occupational therapy manager in the acute and disability sectors for many years. Since 2020, she has had the privilege of being the CEO of a Section 39 disability organisation in Kildare. Carol is passionate about supporting people with disabilities to make their own decisions and exercise their rights as equal citizens to live full lives in their communities.
Ms Carol O'Donnell is appointed following a Publicjobs campaign with effect from 25th July 2025 until 20th July 2029.
Optical Registration Board
Ms Rena Catherine Elliott
Ms Rena Elliot has been practising as a community optometrist and manager of an independent practice in Athlone for over 30 years. During this time, she has tutored final year optometry students and international students doing their adaptation periods. She has a keen interest in myopia management.
Ms Rena Elliot is appointed to the Optical Registration Board following election by registrants of the designated profession.
Ms Hannah Fitzpatrick
Ms Hannah Fitzpatrick graduated with a BSc Hons in Optometry in 2009. She worked in various practice settings before securing a full-time position in Colette Kelly Opticians in Longford. She is now the Director of three independent practices in the centre of the country, Colette Kelly Opticians in Longford, Mullingar Opticians and Enfield Opticians.
Ms Hannah Elliot is appointed to the Optical Registration Board following election by registrants of the designated profession.
