Appointments to the Medical Council - 14 June 2021

The Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly TD, has appointed the following persons to the board of the Medical Council:

Ronan Quirke

Ronan Quirke is a practicing Community Pharmacist and an Adjunct Senior Clinical Lecturer at the School of Pharmacy in UCC, as well as holding a teaching appointment at the School of Pharmacy, TCD. He is a former President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland and is a current member of the Fitness to Practice Committee of the Medical Council of Ireland.

Ronan is appointed following a Public Appointments Service campaign and his appointment is from 14 June 2021 to 31 May 2026.

Jill Long

Jill Long is a chartered physiotherapist. She is a Past- President and former Non-Executive Director of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists. She is a Non-Executive Director and Deputy Chair of Peamount Healthcare and also chairs the Quality and Safety Committee. She has extensive regulatory experience and is currently a lay member of the Fitness to Practice Committee of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland, a lay member and Deputy Chair of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland, a registrant member of the Preliminary Proceedings Committee of CORU and a lay member of the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal. Jill is appointed following a Public Appointments Service campaign and her appointment is from 14 June 2021 to 31 May 2026.

Dr. Mary Davoren

Dr Mary Davoren is a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist at the Central Mental Hospital Dundrum and National Forensic Mental Health Service and Clinical Senior Lecturer in Forensic Psychiatry at Trinity College Dublin. Dr Davoren is nominated by the Irish Psychiatric Training Committee and her appointment is from 14 June 2021 to 31 May 2023.
