Appointments to the Mental Health Commission

The Minister of State for Mental Health and Older People, Mary Butler TD, has following nominations by Mental Health Reform and the Irish College of General Practitioners appointed Ms. Fionn Fitzpatrick and Dr. John Cox to the Mental Health Commission. The appointments are from 12 February 2021 to 4 April 2022.
Ms. Fionn Fitzpatrick
Ms Fionn Fitzpatrick is a skilled development worker with over 10 years experience in mental health and peer led initiatives. She is a passionate advocate for equality and human rights using community development methods for social change.
She is project co-ordinator for Gateway Mental Health Project via Mental Health Ireland,
Director, South Dublin Voluntary Groups Ltd (2018 to present), Service Improvement Group CHO7 Mental Health Services HSE (2018-present), Member of Mental Health Reform, Member of Community Worker’s Cooperative, Member of Critical Voices Network Ireland and prior co-convenor of the CVNI East group.
Dr. John Cox
Dr. John Cox is a Wexford GP. He is past Chairman of the Board of the Irish College of General Practitioners (ICGP) and past Chairman & Provost of the RCGP Republic of Ireland Faculty. He presently sits on the Council of the ICGP and is Secretary of the ICGP Wexford Faculty.
He is a GP trainer with the HSE - South East Training Scheme.
He was previously a director of the Irish Heart Foundation (IHF).
