Reappointment of Chair to the Irish Blood Transfusion Board:

The Minister for Health, Jennifer Carroll MacNeill TD, has re-appointed Ms Deirdre - Ann Barr as Chairperson to the board of the Irish Blood Transfusion Service with effect from 23 June 2025 to 22 June 2027.

Deirdre-Ann Barr joined the IBTS Board in March 2019 and prior to her appointment as chairperson of the Board and the Performance & Development Committee in June 2022, she was a member of the Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee and chair of the pension trustees of the IBTS pension scheme. She holds a number of non-executive roles and is a member of the board of Coillte CGA, where she is also a member of the Investment Committee and the Remuneration Committee. A solicitor and notary public, Deirdre-Ann is a former corporate partner in Matheson LLP where she established the risk management function and was later General Counsel for the firm.

Deirdre-Ann is a chartered director and has completed the Institute of Directors Leading Sustainability programme. She is also a member of Chapter Zero Ireland, a community of non-executive directors that lead Irish boardroom discussions on the impacts of climate change.
