Health Research Consent Declaration Committee

The Health Research Consent Declaration Committee website is now live. The Committee, to be appointed shortly by the Minister for Health under the Health Research Regulations 2018, will make decisions, in limited and specified circumstances, on applications from health researchers for a consent declaration where it is not practicable to obtain consent from data subjects.

The purpose of the Committee is to strengthen public confidence in the way that patient information is used for health research.

The Committee, which will have its own dedicated secretariat, is expected to begin its work in January.
