Appointment to the Medical Council - 25 January 2024

Following a nomination from the Royal Irish Academy (RIA), the Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has appointed Professor Orla Muldoon to the Board of the Medical Council with effect from 25th January 2024 until 31st May 2026.

Professor Muldoon is an internationally recognised world-leading scholar in the field of Political Psychology. She is an active researcher and the first Irish based woman to hold a prestigious European Research Council award from the Social Sciences panel (2020). Prof Muldoon is the Founding Professor of Psychology at University of Limerick since 2007. She was involved in the development of the Psychology Department which included programme development, staff recruitment, and research ethos, culture and infrastructure. Previously, she was a Lecturer in Psychology at Queen’s University Belfast and University of Ulster.
