Clinical trials save lives. They provide earlier access to innovative treatments, improve clinical outcomes, and attract investment that builds Ireland’s research capacity and supports the wider economy. Delivering world-class clinical trials is therefore both a healthcare imperative and an economic priority.
The Minister for Health is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified individuals to serve as voluntary members of a Clinical Trials Advisory Council (CTAC). The Press Release launching the Call for Expressions of Interest is below.
The CTAC’s role will be to oversee and advise on how best to implement actions to continue strengthening the clinical trials ecosystem in Ireland, ensuring simplification of trial start-up and process efficiency. The draft Terms of Reference for the CTAC are below. The Terms of Reference are included for information purposes, are at the draft stage and will be subject to agreement by the full CTAC once all the members are appointed.
Expressions are sought from individuals with relevant skills and clinical research experience from clinical work or academia or industry or patient and public involvement (PPI) representation. The closing date for receipt of applications is 15.00 Monday 20 April 2026.
Further details, including how to express your interest, are in the Call for Expressions of Interest information booklet below:
