Responsibility at Principal Officer level for policy relating to clinical and health‑related general indemnity matters and management of a broad range of associated issues; leading on the work of the Interdepartmental Group on the Rising Cost of Claims; oversight of the Department’s obligations in respect of Thalidomide survivors; management of the Department’s legislative programme; leading on the development of a Vaccine Damage Scheme; working with the HSE on the development of a new model of care for gender healthcare; responsibility for specific inquiries and scoping exercises; coordination of the Department’s input into the LGBT+ Strategy, the Disability Strategy and the Action Plan for Survivors and Former Residents of Mother and Baby and County Home Institutions; responsibility for litigation relating to Mother and Baby Homes; management of residual work associated with the CervicalCheck Tribunal.
