Principal Officer, Health Information Policy

Responsibility for leading on the development and implementation of digital-first national and EU legislation and policy for health information governance and infrastructure, to ensure the safe and timely access to health information for care and treatment and for secondary purposes. The Unit is responsible for delivering the Health Information Bill and other legislative measures to give full effect to the EU Regulation on the European Health Data Space (EHDS), including the development of a national health data access body and related services. The Department’s Data Officer is attached to the Unit and supports ongoing compliance with the Data Sharing & Governance Act (2019) within the Department.
