Responsibility at Principal level for management and delivery of the:
- Development and implementation of policy and legislation, at national and EU level, with regard to: medicinal products, medical devices, controlled drugs, cannabis, cosmetics, and clinical trials, pharmacists and pharmacies;
- Development and implementation of pharmacy policy;
- Control of drugs in accordance with national policy and international conventions;
- Provision of pharmacist expert advice within Department;
- Management of various issues relating to Medicines and Medical Device e.g. medicines shortages and supplies, Brexit implications, safety notifications, Covid pandemic, falsified medicines.
- Governance oversight of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI) and the Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA).
