Role

Principal Officer, Medicines, Controlled Drugs and Pharmacy Regulation

Responsibility at Principal level for management and delivery of the development and implementation of policy and legislation, at national and EU level, with regard to: medicinal products, medical devices, controlled drugs, cannabis, cosmetics, and clinical trials, pharmacists and pharmacies; Development and implementation of pharmacy policy with a focus on the current policy to expand the scope of practice of Pharmacists in the community. Control of drugs in accordance with national policy and international conventions; Provision of pharmacist expert advice within Department; Management of various issues relating to Medicines and Medical Devices. Governance oversight of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI) and the Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA).
