Principal Officer, Nursing and Midwifery Policy

Responsibility for the development of policy and provision of expert nursing/midwifery policy advice, input and direction to support Government priorities and optimise public investment in the health system; Policy development to strengthen the role of nurses and midwives to optimise the scope and practice across the health service;
Enhancing the impact of nurses and midwives, and demonstrating this through the use of robust intelligence; Enabling nurses and midwives to serve as full partners in healthcare design and improvement by enhancing leadership, competency and opportunities; Preparing and implementing regulatory legislation for the nursing and midwifery professions; Governance oversight of NMBI and developing regulatory policy for NMBI.
