Responsibility at Head of Business Unit level for delivering comprehensive support to the National Oversight and Audit Commission (NOAC), the statutory oversight body for local government established under the Local Government Reform Act 2014.
This includes enabling NOAC to fulfil its broad mandate, which spans performance scrutiny, financial oversight, policy implementation monitoring, and the promotion of best practice across all 31 local authorities and regional assemblies.
Key responsibilities include managing NOAC’s annual scrutiny process, producing major national annual reports such as the Performance Indicator Report and Public Spending Code composite report, and leading the organisation of the annual national seminars on Local Government Good Practice and Customer Service.
The role also involves supporting local government audit committees, and engaging with Elected Members, Government Departments, State Agencies and other stakeholders. It also involves extensive engagement with local authorities on matters including those relating to governance, performance, efficiency, reform, and customer service.
