Scheme provides great opportunity to deliver local transformative initiatives
Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, James Browne TD, has today announced that the call for funding applications under the new Towns and Cities Regeneration Investment Fund is now live.
The Towns and Cities Regeneration Investment Fund builds on the success of the previous Urban Regeneration and Development Fund (URDF), but will support a greater focus on disadvantaged areas and a wider scope of eligibility to include smaller towns. Under the new Fund, all towns with a population of over 9,000 are now eligible to apply.
The new Fund has the potential to benefit every local authority across the country and all are encouraged to apply for funding. The call for projects is now live and Local Authorities have until 1 May to submit project applications that will be transformative and impactful in nature and contribute to the wider regeneration of the eligible town or city.
Funding from this round will support both projects that are deliverable in the short term (up to a maximum of €9m for relevant projects that can be onsite by September 2027) and also projects that are at an earlier stage of development (up to a maximum of €150,000) to enable their continued progression and create a pipeline of future projects for delivery.
Minister Browne TD, emphasised:
"Today, the first call for applications under the new Towns and Cities Regeneration Investment Fund goes live. Building on the important work of the Urban Regeneration and Development Fund, this new scheme widens the net for those who can apply by taking in smaller towns from all over the country and will provide stronger targeting of disadvantaged areas.
“This fund offers local authorities the opportunity to regenerate and transform our town and cities and have a significant positive impact on the lives of those who live in them. I would strongly urge all local authorities to submit suitable projects and take advantage of this opportunity to deliver local transformative initiatives."
Applications to the Towns and Cities Regeneration Investment Fund must be submitted by Friday 1 May.
