Monthly Commencement Data for June 2023 published

The Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage has published its monthly data on the number of Commencements Notices (residential construction starts) for June 2023.

The data show Commencement Notices for 2,574 new homes were received by Building Control Authorities in June 2023. This is an increase of 25% on the number of new homes commenced in the same month last year (2,060 units).

The strong uptick in commencements in Q4 2022 and Q1 2023 has continued into Q2 2023. 15,561 homes have been commenced in the first six months of 2023. This is a 10% increase on the same period last year and a record when compared to similar periods since the data series began in 2015.
