125 Years of Irish Local Government

“125 Years of Irish Local Government” is a digital exhibition produced as a collaboration between the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage and the Local Government Archivists and Record Managers network.

The exhibition explores the history of Irish local government, including the pivotal first local elections in 1899, as well as examining some of the important services provided by local councils across the country.

The exhibition is available in digital and printed format, and was produced as an element of the Department’s celebration of the 125th anniversary of local government in Ireland
