The Government is committed to fixing homes affected by defective materials and poor building practices. These issues have impacted thousands of families and communities, and addressing them is a priority.
Current Schemes
- Pyrite Remediation Scheme
Repairs homes damaged by swelling of underground floor slabs.
- Applications received: 3,398
- Approved: 2,936
- Homes remediated: 2,851
- Enhanced Defective Concrete Blocks Grant Scheme
Helps homeowners repair homes built with defective concrete blocks.
New Measures
Under Delivering Homes, Building Communities, the Government will:
- Support remediation of fire safety, structural safety, and water ingress defects in apartments and duplexes built between 1991 and 2013.
- Continue the Interim Remediation Scheme for Defective Apartments.
- Progress legislation quickly to implement a long-term approach for apartment remediation.
