Article 38 of the Construction Products Regulation (EU) 2024/3110 (CPR 2024), requires each Member State to establish a designating authority, that shall be responsible for assessing, designation, and monitoring of Technical Assessment Bodies in Ireland.
The Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage is the designating authority under article 38 of the CPR 2024 in Ireland.
An application for technical assessment body status should be made to this department in accordance with the National Procedures for Designation of Technical Assessment Bodies under the Construction Products Regulation (EU) 2024/3110.
It is important to note, as part of the transitional arrangements, Article 95(2) of the CPR 2024 states that TABs and notified bodies that are designated or notified under CPR 2011 shall be deemed to have been designated or notified under CPR 2024 as well. However, they shall be assessed and designated anew by the designating Member States in accordance with their periodic re-assessment cycle and at the latest by 8 January 2030.
