Fair and Equal Social Housing Rent System

The Government plans to fully review how rents are set for social housing tenants in local authorities.

The goal is to make sure that households with similar incomes pay the same rent no matter who their landlord is (whether it's a council or an Approved Housing Body), or where they live.

The Government also recognises that rent payments are an important part of funding social housing. The money tenants pay helps maintain and improve their homes and supports the communities they live in.
