Fully Funded Social Housing Programme

The Government has committed nearly €20 billion to build more social and affordable homes by 2030 the largest housing investment in the State’s history. This funding will support the delivery of 72,000 new social homes.

How It’s Funded:

  • The Housing Finance Agency (HFA) is providing loans to local authorities and housing bodies. Between 2022 and 2024, it has already provided over €3.75 billion.
  • The Government will ensure the HFA continues to meet funding needs while staying within national borrowing limits.
  • The State will also explore other funding options from the wider financial sector, as long as they offer good value and fit within national financial rules.
