History of Rent Pressure Zones Designations

- Cobh LEA was originally designated as an RPZ on 24 March 2017. The boundary of the Cobh LEA changed in the beginning of 2019 to include the ‘Watergrasshill’ area of Cork and was subsequently designated on 18 December 2019.
- **Kildare-Newbridge LEA was originally designated as an RPZ on 27 January 2019. The boundary of the Kildare-Newbridge LEA changed in 2018 to include Monasterevin and Kildangan and subsequently the administrative area of Kildare County Council, including Monasterevin and Kildangan, met the new criteria to become a Rent Pressure Zone on 29 September 2020.
- *** Drogheda Rural LEA was originally designated as an RPZ on 20 September 2017. The boundary of the Drogheda Rural LEA changed on 31 January 2019 to include Clogherhead and subsequently the remaining area of Drogheda Rural LEA was deemed as an RPZ on 17 October 2024 under section 24B of the Residential Tenancies Acts 2004 – 2024.
On 20 June 2025, all remaining areas became Rent Pressure Zones as The Residential Tenancies (Amendment) Act 2025 came into operation to extend and expand the operation of Rent Pressure Zones (RPZs) to cover the entire country until 28 February 2026.
