Land Development Agency (LDA) – Driving Affordable Housing

Since 2018, the Land Development Agency (LDA) has been a key partner in delivering affordable homes. So far, €6.25 billion has been allocated to the LDA up to the end of 2025.

Under the new housing plan “Delivering Homes, Building Communities”, the Government is adding €2.5 billion more, bringing the total funding to €8.75 billion. This is a major investment in housing and gives the LDA a bigger role in delivering homes across Ireland.

What this means:

  • The extra funding will help deliver 14,000 homes as part of the LDA’s current business plan.
  • The LDA will buy more land both private and State-owned to build homes in more areas.
  • It will invest in infrastructure so more homes can be built in towns and cities.
  • It will support local councils in planning sustainable new communities.

So far, the LDA has delivered 2,000 homes, and there is a pipeline of 27,000 more. It is now active on over 40 sites with projects at different stages of development
