Land Registration

Tailte Éireann (TÉ) keeps official records of who owns land and property in Ireland. If you buy property that isn’t registered, and the purchase happened after 1 June 2011, it must be registered for the first time.

However, about 300,000 titles mostly in Dublin and Cork are still unregistered. This first registration step can sometimes slow down the buying and selling process.

To make things faster, TÉ is promoting digital services, including eRegistration, which lets legal firms and banks submit applications online without paperwork. This reduces delays for everyone.

TÉ is also working on a new digital system to:

  • Handle growing demand for registrations
  • Speed up the process
  • Improve the experience for users
  • Accelerate the registration of land titles
