Leveraging the Urban Regeneration and Development Fund (URDF)

The Urban Regeneration and Development Fund (URDF) helps create compact, sustainable communities as part of Project Ireland 2040.

What Does It Do?

  • Provide funding for regeneration and rejuvenation projects in Ireland’s five cities and large towns.
  • Currently supports 132 projects and over 430 individual schemes nationwide.

Why It Matters

  • Promotes more housing and mixed-use development within existing urban areas.
  • Makes cities and towns better places to live, work, visit, and invest.

Funding

  • One of four funds under the National Development Plan (NDP) 2018–2027.
  • Initial allocation: €2 billion up to 2027.

Extended by €500 million to 2030 under the updated NDP
