HAP is a type of social housing support where the local council pays rent directly to a private landlord each month. The tenant then pays a weekly rent to the council.
The Government will review the current HAP rent limits to make sure they still provide enough support to help eligible households find and keep homes in the private rental market.
To help keep people in their homes, the HAP Landlord Guarantee, which ensures landlords get paid and helps maintain tenancies, will be extended. These steps are important to prevent people from becoming homeless due to issues in the rental market.
