Modular Pathfinder Projects

The Government is committed to using Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) to make building homes faster and more innovative. One focus is on modular construction and 3D volumetric systems, which are less common in Ireland.

Pathfinder Projects

To test and grow these methods, the Department of Housing will fund pilot projects, including:

  • SMART Modular Housing Project in Limerick, led by the City and County Council and the Mayor’s Office.
  • A project in New Ross, Wexford, to build 22 permanent social homes using 3D volumetric systems. The contract is expected by the end of 2025.

These projects will help share best practices across social and affordable housing providers.
